Additional Information
Nurses Day at the Capitol is an annual event where nurses from across the state come together to advocate for policies that support the nursing profession and improve patient care. It's a chance for nurses and nursing students to make their voices heard and influence legislation that directly affects their work.
Here's a typical breakdown of what happens at these events:
-
Legislative Briefing: Nurses and nursing students attend educational sessions to learn about current healthcare issues, understand the legislative process, and develop effective advocacy strategies.
-
Advocacy Training: Participants are provided with tools and techniques to communicate their concerns and priorities to lawmakers.
-
Meetings with Legislators: Nurses and nursing students meet with their elected officials to discuss important issues such as safe staffing, workplace violence, pay equity and access to quality healthcare.
- Networking Opportunities: The event often includes opportunities for nurses and nursing students to connect with colleagues, share experiences, and build relationships.
By participating in Nurses Day at the Capitol, nurses and nursing students can play a vital role in shaping healthcare policy and ensuring that their profession is valued and supported.
