Position Summary:
The Nursing Hall of Fame Committee Member plays a vital role in identifying, evaluating, and celebrating outstanding nurses who have made significant and lasting contributions to the nursing profession and the health and well-being of individuals and communities. Committee members are responsible for upholding the integrity and prestige of the Nursing Hall of Fame through a fair and thorough nomination and selection process.
Responsibilities:
- Process Development and Refinement:
- Develop Nursing Hall of Fame nomination criteria
- Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of the nomination, evaluation, and selection processes to ensure fairness, transparency, and relevance.
- Nomination Review:
- Review and evaluate nomination packets submitted for potential induction into the Nursing Hall of Fame, ensuring they meet established criteria.
- Conduct thorough research and due diligence on nominees, as needed, to verify the accuracy and impact of their contributions.
- Deliberation and Selection:
- Participate actively in committee discussions and deliberations regarding the merits of each nominee.
- Apply established criteria fairly and consistently to assess nominees' impact in areas such as clinical practice, education, research, leadership, policy, and advocacy.
- Engage in respectful and thoughtful debate to reach a consensus on the final selection of inductees.
- Promotion and Awareness:
- Assist in promoting the Nursing Hall of Fame and encouraging nominations from the broader nursing community.
- Participate in efforts to raise awareness of the Hall of Fame and its inductees.
- Event Participation:
- Attend and participate in the Nursing Hall of Fame induction ceremony and related events, as able.
- Adherence to Policies:
- Adhere to all policies and procedures established by Arkansas Nurses Association and the Nursing Hall of Fame Committee.
- Confidentiality:
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all nomination materials, committee deliberations, and selection decisions.
- Collaboration:
- Collaborate effectively with other committee members, the Committee Chair, and staff liaisons.
Qualifications:
- RN, APRN, LPN with a strong understanding of the nursing profession and its diverse roles.
- Demonstrated commitment to the advancement and recognition of nursing excellence.
- Experience in leadership, education, research, clinical practice, policy, or advocacy within the nursing profession is highly valued.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and evaluation skills.
- Ability to engage in respectful and constructive discussions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Willingness to dedicate the necessary time and effort to fulfill committee responsibilities.
- Prior experience on committees or boards is desirable but not always required.
